Although they met in London, a city that’s rich ind a thousand influences, it was in Paris that this duo decided to create a home and enjoy their shared passion for decoration with a style that’s driven by what they’ve picked up on different travels. We meet the two newly adopted-Parisians for whom carefree strolls have become an important part of daily life in the French capital

As newly adopted Parisians have you picked up any typically Parisian habits?
Cindy: Running around everywhere. Paris is an incredible city, where there’s always plenty to do, from exhibits to concerts, walks to evenings out. And even then I’m forgetting some. The result? You find yourself rushing around so you don’t miss anything. It’s always such a pleasure though, that I just keeping racing around.
Pierrick: The fact that we’ve very quickly adopted the Sunday brunch. It’s not something you’ll find in my home region of South West France, but Paris has really taken to it.

What do you miss about Paris when you head to the south?
C: The diverse range of things going on and that sense of collective buzz.
P: Constant movement.

Which places in Paris evoke happiness to you?
C: I love to stroll through the 9th and 18th arrondissements. They’re my favourite neighbourhoods. I live in the 9th and my last apartment was next to Lamarck-Caulaincourt. They’re just filled with interesting places.
P: La Place Colette, right in front of the Comédie-Française theatre. Whenever I’m there, I just get this sense of real wellbeing.

Are there any other cities you could see yourself living in?
C: Without a doubt, Cape Town. It boasts this incredible ocean-meets-mountains backdrop and a real unparalleled creativity. It was named design capital for 2014 and I was lucky enough to visit, explore and discover its incredible architecture, designers and colours. I came away feeling exhilarated in a way I haven’t been anywhere else.
P: Barcelona, for its friendliness, latin culture and of course the sun.

Name three unexpected spots that epitomize Paris for you.
P: Montmartre’s Villa Léandre for its very English-looking, colourful homes (which is rare in Paris), with just below it Lamarck-Caulaincourt station that looks like a film set complete with a newspaper kiosk and bistro. Also, the Musée Rodin garden for a peaceful stroll amongst the impressive, yet calming sculptures.

Do you have a favourite neighbourhood stroll?
C: The second-hand shops along Rue de Trudaine and Rue Condorcet and especially the cool vintage boutique, Curiosity shop.

P: Walking up Rue des Martyrs to Montmartre, one of the most beautiful corners of Paris.

Talk about your home’s interior.
C: Pierrick and I are huge design enthusiasts and we’ve created a home interior that reflects our individual tastes. That’s one of the great things about living with someone. We both love Scandinavian design and we love its colourful side that can break up the cold side of a room. Pierrick picked up a secondhand coffee table and we’ve found a lot of furniture at Maison Vingtrois, a very young brand that offers up updated vintage pieces. I also try to pick up pieces when I’m travelling as a way of keeping souvenirs. I brought back a light from Copenhagen, cushions from Marrakesh, some art from a Lithuanian artist that a friend of mine has reproduced and furniture cover from Peru.

P: We were lucky to find a very light and bright Haussmannian-style apartment and we’ve always wanted to blend our desires and influences into one place. I think it turned out well.

Which is your favourite room?
C : The lounge, it’s the biggest room in the apartment and it looks out onto a large balcony. We tried to make it as cozy and comfortable as possible as we spend most of our time in there.
P: Yes, the lounge is our favourite room.

Do you own any particularly special pieces?
C: Jewellery that I’ve brought back from South Africa or Thailand, or pieces that people have given me. My handbags, a very female addiction, I know. Also, a painting in my bedroom that my friend gave me. It’s a reproduction of a Lithuanian piece by Linas Jusionis that we both love. I lived there for six months and she came and joined me for part of it. It reminds me of some really good times.
P: My Baumann chair from Maison Vingtrois. It’s one of the first pieces the boutique did, and better yet it’s signed.

Do you have any favourite energy-boosting music?
C: People always make fun of me because I love the Mojito Sunset playlist on Spotify, it’s perfect for bringing a little party atmosphere into the house, especially when it’s windy and rainy. You really get the feeling that you’re under a tropical sunlight.
P: I’m a big music fan. My playlist has become a lot richer over the past few months, especially after going to the Primavera Sound Festival in Barcelona this June. I love Found Out by Caribou, Taro de Alt-J, One way to find by The Strokes. And, for that ‘French touch’ side, Château Perdu by Cléa Vincent, Garde le pour toi by Paradis and anything by Feu! Chatterton.

A favourite film?
P: The 2008 movie, The First Day of the Rest of Your Life from Rémi Bezançon.

How do you beat the blues?
C: Without a doubt, with shopping.
P: Putting my headphones on and listening to some favourite songs, cut off from the world.

What recently gave you two the giggles?
C: Our crazy neighbours.
P: This photo shoot I think (laughs).

What thoughts get you out of bed on difficult mornings?
C: Thinking about what evening events I have coming up in the week, it’s an instant comfort that always works.
P :Telling myself that I have an entire day to get plenty done.

What do you say to yourself when you look in the mirror?
C : Another hour of sleep couldn’t hurt!
P: That I’m perhaps not as indulgent of myself as I could be, even early in the morning.

Do you have any favourite French dishes?
C: Pistou soup. It’s a Marseilles speciality -- my origins.
P: Dauphinois potatoes with a nice rare roast beef. I’ve been hooked since childhood.

Any favourite energy-boosting recipes?
C: Easy to cook and simple to remember! Three words: tomatoes, mozzarella, basil.
P: A large glass of water with lemon and lavender honey first thing in the morning.

Do you have any favourite sweet treats?
C: Sorbets, they taste great and look amazing.
P: Madeleines, for their taste and their name! Delicious.

How do you stay in shape?
C : With Taekwondo and now I’ve turned to yoga. I need to centre myself. We’ll see how long it lasts.
P: I eat healthily and I do a little exercise at home. I’m not a sporty soul, just perhaps a sporty spirit.

How do you envisage the typical Parisian?
C: Always well dressed.
P: Yes, very sophisticated, carefree as well. I like the idea of studied nonchalance.

Do you have a favourite barber or hairdresser?
C: I always go to the same hairdresser who works alone in her own salon. She’s great and I always send friends to her. Go to Tête O Carré and you’ll discover Magali’s magic.

In what way is your beauty routine quite Parisian?
C: I think compared to others, Parisians wear a little less makeup and try to look pretty natural whatever the event. I usually put on a little eyeliner and blush and I’m ready to go.

Do you have a beauty product that never leaves your side?
C: My lipstick.

Describe your latest beauty discovery.
C: I travel a lot, so I like to bring back souvenirs or discover things when I’m away. Recently I discovered amber and musk cubes in Marrakech. By gently rubbing them over the skin at the beginning of the day I know I’ll smell great all day long. And, they’re 100% natural.

How do you make sure you sleep well?
C: I literally cover myself in oil and add a little rose water on my wrists. It’s an ointment that’s perfect for getting to sleep and its scent stimulates sweet dreams.

Do you have any homemade beauty recipes?
C: Water with lemon juice and ginger. 100% detoxifying and 100% fresh.

Where do you go to discover new gems?
C: The new Branché guide and by looking for friends’ events on Facebook.
P: I read online magazines like Le Bonbon and Villa Schweppes, They’re always on top of nightlife news. And of course, Le Branché, which is more focused on restaurants and brunch but is always on point with its picks and always ensures a good time.

Where do you relax or treat yourself?
C: With a drink away from it all at l’Hôtel Particulier in Montmartre, a bucolic, hidden littles spot. Or, I go for a manicure

Where do you go for coffee or a cocktail?
C: I’m more of a tea person and I like warm places with relaxing well thought-out interiors. That means I like the Scandinavian eatery Höja, the stylish Café Pinson and the home-like La Chambre aux Oiseaux. For an evening drink, I like the classic and chic Maria Magdalena.

P: I stay faithful to my southern roots with a glass of pastis at Chez Janou. For coffee, I’m spoilt for choice, because Parisian café terraces all seem to attract me as I walk past. I often stop at the Nemours on Place Colette. The setting is magnificent and it’s even better if you’re lucky enough to enjoy an impromptu concert from one of the Conservatory st
